Q & A for A-TEC

1. Q: What is A-TEC?

A-TEC is a global leading contest to discover, guide, and, cultivate advanced technologies. It aims to find the advanced technology in three fields: artificial intelligence, cyberspace, and biotechnology.

It is hosted by Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and organized by Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen / Leaguer Group Co., Ltd. 

2.Q: What are the sub-divisions of the three fields?

1) Artificial Intelligence

Unmanned systems, computer game, distributed and collaborative Intelligent systems, human-computer hybrid intelligence and their applications, and others;

2) Cyberspace 

Network information security, 5G solution for vertical industry, networked micro systems and other innovative technologies and their applications, and others;

3) Biotechnology 

Biomaterials and biomimetic materials, bio-inspired intelligence technologies, new synthetic biology technologies, human health monitoring and promotion and other innovative technologies and their applications, and others.

3. Q: What are the key evaluation factors of A-TEC?

A-TEC will mainly focus on the technology leading position, application potential, economic and social benefit evaluation, technical feasibility and maturity evaluation, and project team capability.

4. Q: What is the competition schedule of the A-TEC overseas?

1) Present—2020.04  Submit the Registration

Projects will be reviewed by judges and those in line with the requirements will be selected to the following competition.

2)2020.05—2020.06   European Competition

Hold competition in Germany and the United Kingdom, select 9-10 teams for the Grand Final.

3)2020.07—2020.07   Training

Start training in Shenzhen, tutorial and consultation provided by technical experts, industry experts, and investors, communication platform between teams available.

4)2020.07—2020.07   Grand Final

Select winners in each field

Please note that the above schedule might change due to some force majeure and the latest agenda will be notified accordingly.

5. Q: What is the form of the A-TEC?

  The roadshow (both on site and online) and defense.

6. Q: What are the requirements for the participating projects?

1) Candidate projects shall belong to the fields of artificial intelligence, biotechnology and cyberspace as well as corresponding subdivisions.

2) Candidate projects shall be innovative and technically advanced.

3) Candidate teams shall be good at technical research and development.

4) Team members and their organizations shall have good social reputation and no bad records.

5) The products, technologies and patents of projects to be submitted shall belong to the team, team member or organization, and there is no intellectual property right dispute.

7. Q: What’s the deadline of the registration? And how to register?

1) The deadline of A-TEC is till the end of April, 2020.

2) Send the registration form, participation statement, and project introduction slides to the following email: cj@ittc.com.cn for registration. 

There will be a reply of receiving and confirmation after preliminary review.  

8. Q: Is there any registration fee for this competition?

  It is an open competition without any fees.

9. Q: Who will bear the expenses of the competition?

10. Q: What are the rewards of the competition?

 1) Awards in cash (before tax) in each field after winning in the Grand Final

 No. 1       RMB 0.8 million;

 No. 2       RMB 0.5 million;

 No. 3       RMB 0.3 million;

   No. 4—7       RMB 0.1 million each 

2)Policy Bonus

Winners will also share government policy support, customized development contract, and industrial procurement demands,and etc. 

Moreover, they can join the science and technology innovation incubation system with deep integration of industry, university, and research institute of the organizers, gain industrial services such application R&D, talent training, investment & incubation, and innovation base.

11. Q: Is there any requirement for getting the rewards after winning?

The organizer will conduct due diligence for the winning team, only those who pass the due diligence can enjoy the rewards, which will be awarded in cash and R&D funding without any restrictions on the landing area.
